They bloom a lot from early summer into the fall, attracting birds and butterflies, and their heads are full of nectar, attracting all sorts of insects! The flowers they bloom are a bright royal purple. They bloom in an extended cluster in a plume formation. The buddleia bush is low care as long as it has well draining soil and sun. Your Guide to Buddleia Bush Care Care: Low maintenance, but it will need trimmed and deadheaded. Light: The buddleia bush will grow best with full sun or a part sun, part shade situation. Water: You can water your plant multiple times a week while growing. If planted outdoors, be mindful of the rainfall. You will not need to water if the rainfall is over an inch per week. Once established, the buddleia bush is relatively drought tolerant. Be mindful that this plant is vulnerable to root rot so place it in a well draining soil. Temperature: This plant is cold hardy! It does well in zones 5 to 9. If you are located in a cooler climate, cover the root zone with mulch (2 to 4 inches). Feeding: Does not require a lot of fertilizer especially if grown in nutrient rich soil. If grown in poor soil, you will need to fertilize.
